Emergency Field Hospital Simulation
During an emergency, speed saves lives. In a groundbreaking collaboration with FedEx, International Medical Corps maintains a 12-shelter Emergency Field Hospital that can provide urgently-needed health, trauma and surgical care after a disaster.
International Medical Corps is a global first responder to disaster, conflict and disease. From its headquarters in Los Angeles, International Medical Corps has been on the frontlines of global crises for more than 30 years. When an emergency strikes, International Medical Corps responds – saving lives, relieving suffering and helping families and communities recover and rebuild.
In a groundbreaking collaboration with FedEx, International Medical Corps maintains a 12-shelter Emergency Field Hospital that can provide urgently-needed health, trauma and surgical care after a disaster. FedEx stores the hospital at its World Hub in Memphis, TN, leveraging its global fleet and logistics capability to deliver the hospital nearly anywhere in the world quickly after disaster strikes. This speed ensures that International Medical Corps’ emergency volunteers and well-trained, experienced global staff can immediately begin saving lives.
Training & Simulation
This February, International Medical Corps, FedEx and the City of Los Angeles will host the annual training and simulation of the Emergency Field Hospital in Downtown Los Angeles adjacent to Grand Park. Over seven days, dozens of emergency responders, along with FedEx and City of Los Angeles representatives, will test the hospital’s capabilities, provide training to medical volunteers and ensure that we remain prepared to respond, wherever and whenever it’s needed most.
